Two Approaches to Help You on Your Journey...

Personal Growth

Individual Therapy

There are times in life that a person needs the support and trained attention that can best be provided by individual psychotherapy.

Depression, anxiety, feelings of emptiness, inappropriate guilt and anger and the often ensuing social isolation and/or relationship problems are some of the most painful experiences in life.

At times, life changes and factors create stressors that affect us profoundly. Chronic stress or traumatic stress can lead to physical, as well as, interpersonal suffering. Studies are showing that untreated, these emotional stressors can translate into physical symptoms of disease.

Psychotherapy can help one who is depressed to find joy in living.

Anxiety can be transformed into peace and confidence. Fulfillment can replace emptiness. Inappropriate guilt can be transformed into a sense of responsibility and self acceptance. Relationships can become sources of harmony, play and creativity.

A safe environment is created between us to explore your feelings and find deep healing. My approach combines empathic heart-centered presence with over 25 years experience in helping people deal with all facets of the human heart and condition.

I often use concrete tools to help you deal with depression and anxiety as well as learning how to listen to yourself on a deeper level.

Relationship Therapy

All couples, no matter how complicated their problems seem, are trying to establish a connection to each other. Connection is so primal and it is only in our most intimate relationships that we get our deepest needs for connection met. These needs do not go away after childhood, nor are they pathological.

Couples are looking to find out and feel that their partner is there for them, that they matter, and that they can depend on their each other.

Emotional distance between a couple is devastating and all types of negative patterns can ensue. This emotional distance can happen from betrayal, long festering hurts, anger within the relationship and plain giving up.

Dealing with the couple's negative patterns of attempting to connect and helping them reestablish heart connections that make each other feel safe and nurtured is the essence of Hearts on the Mend Couple Therapy.

This focus of Hearts on the Mend Therapy is on understanding and correcting negative patterns of dealing with emotional connection with your partner and establishing deeply satisfying bonding.

This is a short term model of therapy and can be likened to going to school for couple effectiveness that can strengthen your relationship for the long run and not just the immediate crisis.

EMDR

EMDR therapy uses bilateral stimulation, right/left eye movement, or tactile stimulation, which repeatedly activates the opposite sides of the brain, releasing emotional experiences that are "trapped" in the nervous system. This assists the neurophysiological system, the basis of the mind/body connection, to free itself of blockages and reconnect itself.

Complete treatment of the targets involves a three-pronged protocol:

  1. Past Memories

  2. Present Disturbance

  3. Future Actions

Addressing these targets are necessary steps to alleviate the symptoms and address the complete clinical picture.

The amount of time to complete the treatment depends upon the history of the client.

Transformational Healing

Personal Transformational Healing

Personal Transformational Intensive is an innovative adjunct to individual therapy as it takes people further in their healing process than is done in traditional therapy.

While regular individual therapy is beneficial to our overall health, there are times when we need to go deeper and engage in more intensive work. This can help release trauma or break through negative belief patterns that keep us stuck.

The techniques used include:

  •  Intensive Breakthrough Sessions

  •  Healing Sessions

These sessions take place over a one day to 6 week period and can be performed in conjunction with your current therapist.

The Breakthrough sessions are 1.5 hr sessions that apply Gestalt techniques with other mind-body approaches to move the client into a quick breakthrough.

The Healing sessions are 1.5 hours healing sessions of body, mind, emotions, and spiritual conditions as well as balancing and grounding techniques. These techniques were learned by spending many months in India with my spiritual teacher.

Spirituality Groups

The word spirit comes from the Latin spiritus, meaning breath. Indeed, spirit is as vital as the breath. Just as the body needs food and the mind needs stimulation, the spirit needs nourishment.

Spirituality is generally considered to be broader than any religion one might practice, as it takes into account cognitive and philosophic areas of thought as well as aspects of emotions and behavior.

Some might describe spirituality as the attempt to understand one's nature or the meaning of one's existence, but spirituality is also linked to one's path to internal awareness and happiness.

Many cultures and belief systems hold that one's spirit is the essence of one's existence, and thus, spirituality may also describe for some people their connection to each other and to themselves.

This group offers a holistic approach to treating the mind, body and spirit that includes helping each client use their own spiritual beliefs to aid them in their self-discovery.

This group is non-denominational. It designed for people of various religious faiths or spiritual frameworks.

Sage-ing

These groups are specifically designed for women over 50.

Sage-ing is looking at life in a new way as we grow older. It's a spiritual practice that involves harvesting the wisdom of our lives, transmitting that wisdom as a legacy to future generations and giving back through service.

  • Examining  our attitudes and fears about aging and our culture’s stereotypes and claiming our rights to promoting and practicing a new paradigm.

  • Connecting to our inner wisdom through growth techniques of psychology and spirituality including meditation, contemplation, journaling and spiritual intimacy.

  • Learning to nourish ourselves physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually.

  • Gaining an understanding that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves, we  learn to forgive those who have offended us, ask forgiveness of those we have offended and practice self-forgiveness above all else.

  • We face our own mortality with courage and serenity.

  • We identify ways in our own lives to serve as mentors and healers.

EMDR

EMDR, (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), uses bilateral stimulation, right/left eye movement, or tactile stimulation, which repeatly activates the opposite sides of the brain, affecting emotional experiences that are in the nervous system. This assists the neurophysiological system, the basis of the mind/body connection.

EMDR can be used in sessions to help the client have spontaneous experiences of intuition, resolution and creativity. These are transcendent, spiritual experiences that transform the meaning of suffering.

The new field of positive psychology supports facts that show that positive emotions can be programmed into the neurological wiring of the brain.

If you feel that  your life doesn't have the richness and meaning that you hoped for or that you are not living up to your full potential, it is time to take part in a Nature Quest.

Nature Quests will give you a greater sense of your spiritual path and purpose and will allow you to explore  the next steps on your life path.

These retreats will allow you to listen deeply to yourself and the environment. Your mind and body come into a deep stillness and peace while cultivating mindfulness and the inner art of meditation.

As awareness grows you learn from your own experience and the teachings of the natural world. Over time old armoring softens and your heart opens with appreciation and love for the power of nature and everything within it.
